Ted Nugent Is 'Moved' by the Jonas Brothers

Even at age 60, rocker Ted Nugent has no intentions of slowing down when it comes to his music career. Just this week, Uncle Ted released 'Motor City Mayhem,' a DVD of his 6,000th concert recorded last July 4th, 2008 in Detroit. "It is a stone cold son of a bitch," Nugent tells Spinner. "It is off the charts."

Beginning with the Nuge's rendition of the 'Star Spangled Banner,' the disc features over 20 tracks with a guest appearance by his old vocalist, Derek St. Holmes, on the classics 'Cat Scratch Fever' and 'Stranglehold.' But the selling point of the DVD for Nugent is what happened after a seven-foot tall red, white and blue cake was wheeled onstage. "The girl coming out of the cake is worth buying the damn thing," he says. "She was one of the models from the local radio station. She's so gorgeous it's stupid. I would have offered her free room and board in my lip."

Ted Nugent 'Blessed' to Spend Time With Terminally Ill Children

Believe it or not, Ted Nugent has a softer side. Though the legendary hard rocker is better known for his Tarzan-like stage antics, affinity for hunting and conservative political views, the Motor City Madman also spends his time with terminally ill children in an effort to raise their spirits. "I can't remember a year that went by since the '60s that I haven't done this," Nugent tells Spinner. "I find it amazing that these little kids can connect with an old fart like me. I'm probably the ultimate youth counselor in America, dare I say."

The visits, set up by foundations like Make-A-Wish, Wish Upon a Star and Hunt of a Lifetime, bring the children to Nugent's SpiritWild Ranch in Texas for days of fun. Two of the most recent visitors, 5-year-old Macon Lynn, who's suffering from inoperable brain cancer, and 6-year-old Brianna Curry, who's fighting a brain tumor and happens to be a fan of Nugent's music. "They all love going four-wheeling, exploring the wild grounds here and seeing the wildlife -- the deer, ducks, geese, herons and turtles -- so there's always something fascinating," Nugent says. "Little Brianna and I stopped and picked a bunch of wildflowers and I laid down in the field made angels like you do in the snow -- just being a complete dork and she laughed. I'm sure the chemo and radiation and pain and the ugliness was gone for a little while. It's just very magical."

Rock Almanac: December 13, 2008

On This Date in 1948: Ted Nugent is born Theodore Anthony Nugent in Detroit.

The Almanac Advises for December 13: "The romanticized exploits of the 'great white hunter' are at odds with the modern and more jaundiced view of his trade. Some now see his bravado and privileged attitude as a dying vestige of colonialism."

Ted Nugent Writes Open Letter to VP Hopeful

The original Motor City Madman, Ted Nugent, achieved national superstardom following the release of his 1977 breakthrough, 'Cat Scratch Fever.' These days, however, Nugent is scratching a whole other itch. The diagnosis? Sarah Palin fever. While other celebrities have wasted no time proclaiming their distaste for her, the Nuge sent her an autographed copy of his new book, 'Ted, White & Blue,' along with an open letter of support.

"As a proud fellow American hunter, fisherman and lover of Alaska's soul cleansing magnificent Spirit of the Wild, we who live our American Dream by God, truth, logic, goodwill and decency, thank you for bringing such defiant common sense and self evident truth back to the GOP and politics," he writes. "We wish you Godspeed for the best hunting and fishing season of your life and pray to God almighty that you bring your bold spirit to the White House."

And we, at Spinner, who value entertainment, creative publicity and the Spirit of Rock 'n' Roll, would like to thank Uncle Ted for giving us three decades of lively water-cooler talk ... and for finally retiring the loin cloth.

Potent Quotables: Nugent's Big Fat Assault

"[It's] ... cultural depravation in its most vulgar and displeasing-to-look-at form. It's suicide as a lifestyle." --Ted Nugent

During an interview with celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, the notoriously opinionated singer went off on obesity in the United States.

Ted Nugent's Latest Diatribe: Obesity

Outspoken rocker and conservative Ted Nugent is angry again -- this time it's about America's obesity problem.

"Obesity is a manifestation of a cultural depravation," he tells globetrotting chef and TV host Anthony Bourdain, "in its most vulgar and displeasing-to-look-at form. And it's suicide as a lifestyle."

The Motor City Madman recently expressed his views on the topic in an episode of 'Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations,' scheduled to air Monday night at 10 EST on the Travel Channel. In this segment, which focuses on the sights and cuisine of the American Southwest, Bourdain pays a visit to Nugent's ranch in Texas.

During their conversation Nugent describes obesity as an unhealthy choice. "That's a liability," he says. "You have chosen to be a liability to yourself, your family, your neighborhood, and this country."

The two opinionated men talk about obesity's impact on health and the safety of others. Bourdain says he likes the idea of a 'fat' tax and charging someone who uses up an additional airplane or subway seat. Nugent then adds, "It all comes back to the horror, the soullessness of a trend in America that is the abandonment of parenting. Somebody's got to go, 'You can't eat that. You're way too fat.'"
