    Music Appreciation: Prince Harry

Prince Harry just might be the member of the British Royal Family most likely to go on a Las Vegas bender. It should come as little surprise, then, that he's a fan of Vegas exports the Killers. At a recent concert in London's Hyde Park, His Royal Highness even paid a visit backstage to say hello and meet the band. Reportedly, he smiled like he meant it.

Art Brut Frontman Says Killers, Kings of Leon Songs Written by Robots

Ever since he took a jab at the lyrics of the Killers and Kings of Leon at the Glastonbury Festival last weekend, Art Brut singer Eddie Argos' inbox has been filling up with messages questioning his taste and, in some cases, his intellect. Even Argos' father has weighed in.

"My dad likes the Killers," Argos tells Spinner. "He sent me an email telling me, 'It's a good album. You should listen to it.'" But the singer remains unswayed. "Those bands' songs to me sound like they were written by robots," he says. "They don't sound like they were made by people. They're so produced, and sort of aimed at a demographic. They're not about anything."

During a Glastonbury performance of 'Slap Dash for No Cash,' Argos sang the lines "This sex is on fire" and "Are we human? Or are we dancer?" then questioned, "What does it mean? What does any of it f---ing mean?"

"A lot of people have been emailing me: 'You don't read enough. You're an idiot. ['Are we human? Or are we dancer?'] is a quote from Hunter S. Thompson,'" Argos says. "But you put that quote in the context of the rest of the song and it doesn't mean anything. Personally, I like songs to be about something.

Art Brut Give Kings of Leon, Killers a Tongue-Lashing at Glastonbury

Anyone thinking of betting their heard-earned on Art Brut supporting the Killers or Kings of Leon anytime soon, please read on. If we can think of one band who won't be asked to open for either, thanks to this weekend, it's Art Brut.

During Art Brut's Other Stage set, singer Eddie Argos sang the lines, "This sex is on fire" and "Are we human? Or are we dancer?" during the song 'Slap Dash' in a less-than-enthusiastic tone.

"What does it mean? What does any of it f---ing mean?" he asked the crowd, earning a cheer, but little chance of a Christmas card from the Followill clan or the Family Flowers.

Potent Quotables: Killers Get Gussied Up

"Putting on a suit, a little make-up ... It feels the right thing to do." --Brandon Flowers

In a recent interview with Elle UK, the Killers frontman credited Elton John with the band's early success adding, "Coming from very ordinary backgrounds, the glamour was an exciting thing ... It still is."

    Potent Quotables: Brandon's Blame Game

"Kurt Cobain and grunge took the fun out of rock 'n' roll." --Brandon Flowers

In a recent interview, the Killers' frontman critiqued his rock forebears for being so glum. Hey, we can't all be 'Mr. Brightside.'

U2 Fear Killers, Coldplay and Kings of Leon

What are U2 afraid of? Oh, the usual -- Coldplay.

The veteran rockers admit that the Killers and Kings of Leon are also on that list, though they are equally inspired by them.

"In our heads that's who we're up against," Bono told the BBC of their musical competition. "You've got to keep an eye on the youth. Coldplay are such an extraordinary band with such song writing talents. [Chris Martin] is one of the most important melodists since Noel Gallagher, since Ray Davies, since Paul McCartney. I love the fact that the Killers want to get their songs on the radio, too."
