Bad Lyric of the Week

"But i've only got two hands/And i'll never learn to dance"
--Travis's 'Before You Were Young,' from 2008's 'Ode To J. Smith'

Hmmm, I think I see what the problem is. Try using your feet instead.

Travis Come to America for Obama, New Album

Travis frontman Fran Healy is more excited than most foreigners about the today's U.S. presidential election.

"My God, you're going to have a new president," the Scottish musician tells Spinner of his prediction that Barack Obama will win. "He's such a cool guy."

Healy, calling from his vacation home in New York, is wrapping up a conversation about his band's forthcoming album, 'Ode to J. Smith,' but he can't help but gush about the Democratic candidate.

"America's got such a bad rap because of Bush and it's going to change overnight," Healy says. "It's amazing. It's so exciting. I'm coming back especially for it."

Travis 'Sing' Glen Campbell's Praises

When Travis frontman/guitarist Fran Healy first watched country legend Glen Campbell perform the band's hit 'Sing,' it was surreal to say the least.

"Somebody told me about [Campbell's cover], so I put it on YouTube and saw him on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' performing our song," Healy tells Spinner about the tune, which appears on Campbell's covers album, 'Meet Glen Campbell.' "It's weird. It's like when you see your friends hanging out with other people and they can't see you, and they're acting slightly differently. It's like, 'That's not my friends. That's not my song.' He does a nice cover of it."

Travis Tackle Britney on Tour

Britney Spears may not be playing her hits on a big U.S. tour these days, but fans who miss hearing her most essential classic, 'Baby One More Time,' live might do well to hit one of Travis' Stateside shows, which begin this Saturday in Seattle.

Frontman Fran Healy and bassist Dougie Payne have been, of late, breaking out the band's acoustic version of the song drummer Neil Primrose tells Spinner. "Yeah, we've been playing it," Primrose confirms, shortly before the Scottish outfit left for North America. "When the crowd's really begging for it, we have done it. It's good fun and [Fran and Dougie] quite enjoy it. I don't think we'll do it every night as kind of overkill, but it definitely goes down well, people love it and it is a good version of it."

Travis Open Their 'Eyes' on New Album

Scottish rockers Travis recently wrapped up their upcoming album, 'A Boy With No Name,' and are now making their way around the States to showcase their newest set of songs. "We haven't done a show in America for about three years, so it's just great to be back," vocalist Fran Healy told Spinner. Healy singled out a couple of the new tunes that the band has especially enjoyed playing out live. "'Eyes Wide Open' is really nice, because it's quite easy to play and it's really powerful," he said. "'Selfish Jean' -- I like that sort of Martha and the Vandellas beat that goes with it."
